Concrete Cleaning by Southern Home in Richmond, VA 804-585-8016

"Cleaning of Concrete is a must, it helps to prevent cracking of your Concrete Surfaces"

Not many people with concrete driveways, especially new concrete driveways, realize that a concrete driveway is a luxurious finish to your exterior. It gives the homeowner the ability to pull in front of his or her house and behold it's beauty. The driveway and the way it is kept says a lot about the homeowner.

It is important to maintain the surface with one of the top products for concrete surfaces. New driveways require a sealant on the surface usually the first six months of the driveway being poured. After the first sealing, driveways should be sealed every three years afterwards.

Sealant provides a barrier that does not allow water to penetrate into the surface. This is most important during the winter months when water does penetrate into the surface and freezing weather overnight causes moisture to expand and thus many times can cause the concrete to crack.

Do not disregard this very important aspect of concrete protection. Especially, if you have Stamped concrete or Aggregate concrete.

Ugly Concrete Surfaces have you down? Aggregate Driveway surface or Stamped Concrete surface have mold and mildew growing on top of it? It can be pretty ugly. And, the moisture can be instrumental in the damage that can be caused to a beautiful surface.

Cracking can happen mostly during the cold months of January and February. Moisture seeps into pores of concrete and freezes. Freezing expands hairline cracks and that is where the damage begins. Once cracks widen, water seeps deeper into concrete surface, eventually finding its way beneath. The dirt becomes mud and unstable and over time crumbles.

To keep moisture from penetrating into the concrete, it is advised to keep a sealant on your front driveway, walkways and areas around your pools and patios. The appearance is beautiful and the drive shimmers and glistens and glows.
